Haitian TPS

In response to the tragic earthquake on January 12, 2010, the United States designated Haiti for Temporary Protected Status. This designation means that Haitian nationals (and aliens having no nationality who last habitually resided in Haiti) who have continuously resided in the United States since January 12,2010, and who remain in continual physical presence in the United States from the effective date of the notice of designation, may apply for TPS within the180-day registration period that begins on January 21, 2010. These nationals also may apply for employment authorization documents and for permission to depart from and return to the United States.

Let our experienced Orlando Immigration Attorney Stephanie St. Louis assist you in applying for temporary protected status. Even though our law firm is located in Orange County, we have represented clients in Seminole, Volusia, Lake, Polk, Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Brevard County.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Designation of Haiti for TPS: January 21, 2010 through July 22, 2011
  • 180 days to Apply for TPS: January 21, 2010 through July 20, 2010

***Although having TPS, by itself, does not lead to permanent resident status (a green card), a TPS beneficiary may adjust their status under another provision of immigration law if qualified. Our experienced Orlando Immigration Law Lawyer, Stephanie St. Louis, may be able to assist you in successfully adjusting your status to lawful permanent resident should you qualify.
